Right - Short version?! Im Gay.. And its obvious that i am x

Im happy with myself in as much as.. Im happy that im gay :)

Some people.. are just really horrible and have a problem with it. Like in town, I hear things from lads such as "Fuc*ing queer"

And other comments

I just want to have something ready back to show that im really not bothered.. without being nasty. Because there not worth me even bothering about.

I dont want to ignore them, ive dont that for long enough.

Please someone help? x

This is such a great and important question and I wish I had a real answer for you.

The only thing I can suggest as an option is to use non-verbal communication-- look that SAYS with your face and your eyes "I heard you, and its okay because I'm really not bothered" but which is not nasty. Even a sort-of smile that communicates "C'mon guys, grow up" in a friendly, non-defensive way. Or even any brief eye-contact. Not a rude stare, but a temporary acknowledgement.

I imagine that by not saying anything all, you may be asserting your confidence, avoiding provocation, and making a statement for peace and acceptance.

Its only a suggestion but I wish you the best and look forward to what others have to say in response to this question.

I feel bad you are so concerned with my life because I will never be able to generate the strength to care about yours? Hate is an exhausting thing to carry around and eats you away, people who go around hating everyone for no reason really aren't happy. Lol

Just ask them when they chose to be heterosexual. The beauty of the question is that no one can answer it.

I am heterosexual, but I cannot tell you when I made that decision, because I never made such a decision.

Usually when someone calls me something I say something along the lines of "Wow, that was clever, did you come up with that all by yourself?" and keep walking.

You say: "Yea? Well you're a towel!!" (South Park comeback)

Or you can say "Yea, and I can only sleep at night to the soothing sound of a blender grinding rice"

The best is to ignore them because eventually they will get bored with you...but if you don't want to do that try the ones I mentioned above.

Just come back with a really nonsensical comment that they will never understand. Or make up a word and call them that. And then make fun of them for not even knowing what it means!

Ignore them is the best response, anything else you do just gives them power.

I know its tough, I dispatch truck drivers and put up with it everyday, but I just ignore them and feel sorry for them.

What I have found out is that most people that talk like this are just doing it to be part of the group, and unfortunately are to scared to stand up and state how they really feel.

Personally I ignore these, you can say whatever you want, there will always be stupid homophobic people to judge or insult you. So just be proud of who you are and ignore them. Doing so you'll deprive them of the argument they would like to have with you, because that is what they expect from you, a reply to be able to argue with you and possibly try to heart you deeper. Another tactic that I use from time to time, is to say " Thank you, really kind of you" and continue my way.

Sometimes, my companion barsts out laughing from the expression on the faces of the people I thank. My companion

does not look Gay for anything, it is just the Guy next door, while without being effeminate, wearing rings or some attitudes just targets me and it always hurts him and make him angry when people addresses homophobic comments to me while I do not care a damn. It has taken me quite some patience to have him remain silent and to ignore the insults and now he admits that my way of doing is better...
