I don't think its a racial issue..i am an asian and mostly hit by racists remarks, but the hate comments for serena are not racially motivated. The comments arise because of the persona serena has shown. venus is lesser arrogant than serena. it's more of the personality issue than racism. the drama begins as she had cramps during her latest match, i mean she had to draw attention, the williams need to draw attention to feed their egos, she was an actress during her "break" after all so all her comments are "showbizy" just to elicit response from other players. what a shame!! so do you think it's a racial issue? please comment... thanks

I have always disliked both Serena and Venus. It has nothing to do with race and I am sick and TIRED of hearing about that issue. I only care about how they play and how they treat other people. When Venus body slammed Irina Spirlea way back when... I knew they had bad bad bad attitudes. And I knew everything that happened to them would be considered racial. How sad.

It was no surprise the other day when Hantuchova was getting a handle on Serena's game... that Serena would crumble to the ground. I DO believe that she had a cramp. But come on. GET OVER IT OR GET out. Seems like they are constantly getting preferential treatment. Why??? Poor Daniela had to stand there freezing. They didn't even start the medical clock for MINUTES. Then, that whole bathroom thing??? COMEON I could have told you that was going to happen! She pulls that one all the time!!! Remember the "I have diarrhea" pleas to the umpire a couple of years ago? GET OVER YOURSELF and play the game like everyone else. I know everyone has their way of gaining control again... but this is soooo predictable and so unfair. Poor Daniela- her mind was ruined. What a way to win. I hope Serena is happy. AND while I am on the subject... how would you like to have been Hantuchova's mom sitting right there behind Richard Williams?? I mean, how does that feel? What a jerk of a family. But, they learned from their dad, that's obvious. Get over yourselves!!!

I think most of these people who comment about Serena are racist and jealous because she can whip everybody else when she really wants to and so no one comment about her strength, determination and will to win at all cost so they try to belittle her and her sister by comparing them to animals. This is what some people so very speacial. That is what makes a person great. Muhammad Ali was also all attitude in his day too. Different personality. Don' for get many eastern European men find other men attractive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its not racist like the first answerer said but what the second one said is racist. this is the difference between racist and non-racist comment. your was purely judgmental and it is true that Serena is a drama queen that is more arrogant than she should be. the leg cramp was almost laughable and when she asked to go to the bathroom when the other girl was getting ready to serve is just ludicrous. That was a failed attempt to cheat on her part because when she was offered a restroom break when it was once again her serve she refused and played out the rest of the match.

I totally disagree with you on what happened yesterday....it was blatantly obvious Serena DID have sever cramp in that left calf. (ever had it yourself??? I tell you, if you have, you should have been able to recognize the signs)

Yes, Serena loves to draw attention to herself, in the way she dresses AND acts on court, but I guess you agree with me that she's definitely not the only one of the ladies who does so.

Do I like it?

NO, I don't, neither do I like the way she plays (tho it certainly is effective).....but I try to keep reality in sight.

As for this being a racial issue.....unfortunately for some it may be, but I guess for most of us a big factor is whether you like someone or not.(next of course to if you like their game)

I wish that the Williams sisters-notably Serena- were white as the driven snow. I wish she had blue saucer like eyes. I wish she had golden blonde tresses. I wish she were as beautiful as the most stereotyped Hollywood starlet.

Why? because then I could tell you what I really dislike about her without getting the racist label pasted all over what I write.

However,it is also maddening to see that the mention of their names seems to attract the real whacko biggots such as our 'friend" RafaRulez and others. So that if someone posts a legitimate complaint or question about one of these Williams girls(usually Serena),your question gets answered by a lot of undesireables spewing garbage or your answer to a question is lumped together with the racist jerks!

A lot of times the Williams are their own worst enemies. I have seen or heard them point the "racist" finger at other players(for beating them) or at judges( for not giving in to them) or at the public (for not supporting them over the pther player). A lot of people are fed up with their exploitation of being victims of racism. Unfortunately there are still all too many real victims of racism out there. We don't need any more false ones.

If someone like myself gets called a racist for thinking Serena is arrogant and rude in her speech and actions ( and not because her ancestors were more successful at adapting to the hot African sun than mine),what are you going to call the real racist who can't stand her for what she IS and not for what she DOES?

Most critics of the Williams have legitimate non/race based cases against them.

But the racist crazies give us all a bad name.

That's so old, can they come up with something new? Hispanics and Asian rarely cry racist. But if you make one negative comment about a Black person, it automatically become a racial remark.
