I once got "you kill children". I still don't know how or why, but apparently, to this woman walking past or pro-veggie stall, this was true of all vegetarians.
Most ridiculous comments you ever got? 1. "So you just eat fish, right?"
2. "Have some stir-fry-- there's not much meat in it."
3. "That means you can't eat nuts, either, doesn't it?"
4. "I thought vegetarians were supposed to be thin."
5. "But animals are *here* to be eaten."
6. "I just try not to think about it." (where her meal came from)
7. "(Gasp!) That means you're going to h_ll."
It's actually a little disturbing that so many ppl seem to associate being vegetarian with being some kinda satanist.

Here's an acutal conversation that took place more than once between me and various classmates
Classmate: "Want half my balogna sandwich?"
Me: "No thanks.. I don't eat meat anymore, remember?"
Classmate: "oh yeah, that's right. Sorry I forgot your a veterenarian now."
They were in dead earnest, too.. LOL.. crazy hick kids didn't know the difference between a vegetarian and a DVM..
Yup.. that's me.. the 10-year-old DVM.. If I'm that smart.. why am I still in 6th grade Science LOL
Most ridiculous comments you ever got? I was given tuna flakes in my salad once after specifically asking for no meat, fish or animal products. When I asked what it was the woman said... "That's not fish, it's tuna"!
Then there was the time a 300 pound man I'd just met said "Vegan diets aren't healthy, you're going to die young" hahaha ummm I think I'll stick to it but thanks for your concern!

But I think it is all a very ''green'' way to live.

Most ridiculous comments you ever got? i'm not a veggie, but my aunt is and i once asked her: "can you eat animal crackers if your a vegetarian?" (like as a joke) and she like answered seriously with: "no! they're made out of animal parts! why do you think they are in those shapes?!"

Most ridiculous comments you ever got? While I was donating blood I told the nurse I was a vegetarian. She said, "Maybe I could do that... you still get to eat fish, right?" I let her down easy so she wouldn't make a "mistake" when stabbing me with a needle.
When I first became a vegetarian, I sent an email to one of my hardcore carnivorous friends about milk production (because he told me cows were always treated nicely). He sent me an email back saying, "You just ruined my breakfast... Also, f*** you for trying."
The only meat my cousin will eat is fish, but his friends constantly ask him when he is going to stop this "stupid vegetarian thing". Which he always replies by saying, "I'M NOT A F***ING VEGETARIAN!"
A friend tried to be accomodating to me and got me a baked potato and a ceasar salad (which is covered in bacon) from Wendy's. I told her thanks for the potato, but I couldn't eat the salad because of the bacon. She looked at it and said, "... but they're really little... they don't count."
One of my co-workers constantly asks me, "Can't you just eat the meat from the happy cows?"

"How could NOT eating meat possibly be healthier when it has protein for muscles and the heart is just one big muscle?"

Now I have to quote wikipedia, though I realize it's not a medical source, it just goes to show how well known this is:

Sorry, I can't think of any. I guess I'm biased though. I suppose somebody might find it ridiculous if they don't agree with the person's spiritual views or how they believe it effects the environment.

There were two guys my dad worked with, they were real country boys. One was supposedly a vegetarian, but he was eating meat. The other guy said, "You eatin' meat? I thought you was a vegetation."
Most ridiculous comments you ever got? Most of my husband's family and we are vegan. For a gathering one time my sister's in-law family brought a dish which looked vegegarian. When we asked if there was any meat in it she said there's no meat and that it was just cooked with turkey necks.

I'm a theist, I don't even believe I need my body to live, let alone to eat another animal's corpse. Even cats don't 'need' meat, though at least for them it is a preferred food.

Most ridiculous comments you ever got? Here is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard from a vegan.
Vegan websites claim that it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of beef. Yet they site no sources for this info.
So, I do the math and was shocked. By the vegan websites figures a cow that produces 1000 pounds of beef would use 2.5 million gallons of water.
You find it shocking that numerous vegan websites claim that it takes 2.5 million gallons of water to produce one pound of beef, me too

Water is not wasted. When water is used it does not vanish from the face of the earth, if that was true then earth would have no water. Every drop of water that is used will in one way or another evaporate "which cleans the water" and then it will rain back down to earth. This is the simple water cycle that 2nd graders are taught. No need for you to get smart mouthed with me.

No matter how much of the water you calculate, rain, dew, or the water used to grow the crops to feed the cattle it still does not equate to millions of gallons for a single cow.

There are an estimated 1.5 billion head of cattle worldwide. Multiply 1.5 billion by 2.5 million and you get 3,750,000,000,000,000. You really believe that the worlds population of cattle consumes that amount of water. Get real, do the math for yourself. Vegan websites and animal rights groups lie.
